MIDSUMMER
Celebrate Midsummer the Harstena way
The belief that Midsummer should be celebrated in the archipelago is shared by many. The Midsummer weekend is typically the time when the island attracts the most visitors.
The Midsummer Eve celebrations traditionally begin at 3:00 PM with the raising of the village pole at Stångberget and the hoisting of the village flag. Around 3:30 PM, the Midsummer pole is decorated at the school meadow before being raised, followed by games and dancing. Feel free to gather leaves and flowers in advance to help decorate the pole. Both young and old are welcome to contribute, join in the fun, and dance around the pole.
For those who prefer a more relaxed experience, it’s perfectly fine to sit in the grass, enjoy your picnic, and watch the dancers.
